The Open Heart Project
The Open Heart project is the first stage in assisting families in distress. Families are approached and invited to meet with a representative of Chasdei Lev for an initial intake and paper work to asses the actual financial needs. After the information received is validated, the family’s portfolio is evaluated by a team of experts who suggest a plan of action and ways in which the family will receive support.
In addition to financial support, the family receives referrals to various sources where they can receive discounts, stipends and special benefits according to their needs. The family is also referred to a ′family budget management′ course and ′empowerment′ workshop.
We see the potential in each family and encourage them to join the work-force. Families receiving support must also devote time to community volunteerism.
We provide the following assistance:
- Monthly food packages
- Holiday food packages
- Blankets and heaters in the winter
- School bags and school supplies for children starting first grade
Since the establishment of Chasdei Lev over 20,000 food packages have been distributed.
The goal of the Open Heart Project is to provide the basic necessities for the family. This support is only ′first aid′ and is provided as part of the larger umbrella of services Chasdei Lev offers to those in need. Chasdei Lev also seeks to strengthen the family′s ties to the community through volunteerism.
